BBYO
Jason Gordon, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL has just been elected to serve as the International Secretary and Treasurer (Mazkir) of BBYO's young men's division, Aleph Zadik Aleph (AZA). He will hold the position for a year-long term beginning in July. Gordon was elected to the board of the leading worldwide pluralistic Jewish teen movement in front of more than 730 teen leaders in February at BBYO's largest-ever International Convention, held in Dallas, TX.
"As a younger member, Grand Board is always seen as a pipedream, as wishful thinking, especially coming from a three year old chapter, and region who has never before produced an international board member," said Gordon, son of Dr. Robert and Renee Gordon. "This election, as well as the concepts and responsibilities behind it are a testament to one facet of beauty that the Jewish religion embodies: the empowerment of its youth."
Gordon is in his junior year at William T. Dwyer High School. He has been actively involved with BBYO's Gold Coast Region for almost four years, taking on leadership roles as the Chapter Mazkir for three terms, Regional Mazkir and Chapter S'gan (VP of Programming).
In addition to Gordon, the new international leaders of AZA include: President, Jeremy Sherman of West Bloomfield, MI; VP of Programming, Daniel Cooper of Potomac, MD; VP of Membership, Jesse Schor of Marlton, NJ; and VP of Israel Education, Community Service and Social Action, Bobby Dishell of Pacific Palisades, CA.
"I cannot wait to begin working with my counterparts around the world, as well as the rest of our Grand and International boards? expect to hear more about BBYO in this next year, we are dreaming big, and acting bigger!" remarked Gordon.
