The whole world is in mayhem.

There is no place left where one can be safe.
Tremendous amounts are invested to protect our safety, the economy is overburdened, personal freedom curtailed, wars against evil are fought, but nobody is a hundred percent safe. Nobody and nowhere.

The current progress of mankind is mainly in the field of technique.
The motto of these achievements are best defind with: "faster, higher and stronger." The problem is that we are so successful in our speed that we are running away from our selves. As we progress in technique, we regress in our human values. When we analyze the various problems that plague the world today, there is not a single real justification for any fight or struggle.
None of the issues and demands of the various aggressors would make the slightest improvement for mankind.
In the 21 century there should not be ruler over people, but people who rule.
Our planet should not be polluted but preserved. A person or a people should have the right for a place to live. Even the Arabs, who have so much land, should know this. And before everything else, to respect the old and reliable golden rule and everybody could be happy. Everybody - in his or her own way, and not in the way of somebody else.

In many ways, the progress in technique brings to regress of our basic values. And it hits right away at our most vulnerable point, with our children, and with education as a whole. Instead of choosing the right book, children are mindlessly fed with television. Who needs friends to play with, when tv-games turn the fantasy into faked reality. Who needs personal interaction when you can do it on the computer in the solitude of your chat room.

The basic problem today is that human values don't go in step with technique. And this can only be balanced with proper education. If this will not be done, mankind and humanity will be totally out of balance.

We are growing so fast, and so high. It is like a tree that grows until it loses contact with its own roots and has to die.

In this "back to school week," it is a good time to contemplate about this. It is a universal problem and not every person can take active part in the solution. But what we can do, each of us, is to take a step back and to take advantage of a source, which is readily available to us -our own roots. We will find there a solution for many problems and will find the strength to cope with them and begin to resolve them. Each of us for our own self.

This would be a good beginning.
