War of the words and other word tricks

Posted by Shlomo Fleischmann on May 26th, 2009

At the time of the Tower of Babylon - people could not understand each other. Yet, as we have mastered the power of the word, the confusion is even greater. The word is like a knife , in the hands of a surgeon it heals, in the hands of a murderer it kills.

Israel is attacked by word and knife. As Israel is under attack and threatened with annihilation - Israel is also accused, as the villain. In thousands of media-outlets -Israel is accused of creating a Holocaust. Zionism is renamed as Zio-Nazism and the white - blue flag shows instead of the Star of David a swastika.

Even, at the visit of Prime Minister Netanyahu in the USA, the media rarely forgot to write “hawkish” before his name - almost as this would have been his title. Suspicion and concern were not aimed at the Jihadists, but at Israel, the only country in the world, which is facing total destruction.

Towards the visit of Netanyahu in Washington, we heard speculation and concern, whether Netanyahu would be willing to make peace with the Arabs. This concern was so sensible, as to ask a man who is stranded for days without food in the desert, if he would be please willing to accept a drink of water. Suddenly, it was Israel that did not want peace.

Another false accusation was that Israel does not agree to an independent Palestinian State. Israel has accepted a Palestinian State even before Israel’s establishment and the Arabs could have had their state on the same day as Israel in 1948, and every single day since, had they wanted it. But a Palestinian State was not what they wanted. What they really wanted and want even today - is to destroy Israel.

The right of Israel to live in secure and safe borders has been recognized by many and even by the UN, at that time, still an honest organization and the six nations, which presented the “roadmap. Israel has accepted all this and Israel and has not changed its opinion. What has changed, was the sudden request of foes and fiends alike, that Israel should accept an independent Palestinian State with now arrangement for security at all. The only promise which the Palestinians, in any form or names make -is to destroy Israel. But Israel is the bad boy, because Israel doesn’t want and can not agree to suicide.

And so the propaganda, the words of war and deceptions against Israel are going on. Israel is branded as occupier. What occupier? Of course the deceptive impression is created, that the occupation relates to the 1967 borders. The truth is that the Jihadists - and this is what they are - complain about the border of 1948, which means all the land of Israel. And the Arabs proved it clearly themselves, because the day the Arabs attacked Israel in 1967, Israel was in its 1948 borders, but the Arabs attacked anyway.

Another of the word-tricks are the “settlements.” If the Arabs had not attacked in 1967, there would not be settlements in these places. And if Israel would return the settlements today, the Arabs would still want to destroy Israel. The pressure on Israel to stop the settlements, which would be inconsequential, is only a way to appease the Arabs

The greatest word-trick is of course the story of the plight of the poor Palestinian people. It is true that there are many Palestinians who suffer, are not free, have no voice in running of their country, have a low income, insufficient education and short life expectancy. This is all true. But this is true only for the Arabs who don’t live in Israel. The Israeli Arabs, which total about 20% of the Israeli people are free, have representation in Parliament and even in Israel’s High Court, have a higher income, better education and a longer life expectancy. But all this does not count. Israel stays in the eyes of many, as the bad boy and even friends and sometimes our own people believe this.

The frustrating matter is that we have tried always to explain, declared, promised, wrote petitions but all our words of truth were not heard or understood. And it is time to recognize that words are useless.

If Israel and the free wold want to survive, we have to use deeds instead of words. During the Shoah we had no weapons. Today we have them and we are obliged to use them if we need to defend ourselves. We will offer peace and friendship together with a warning: “If you try to destroy us, we will destroy you first!” It would be nice if the words alone would help.

But if not. We have to act according to our laws - “If someone wants to kill you - kill him first.” Open your ears - the time is clicking.
