John, Sarah, & The A Word

Brushing It Aside Won’t Make It Go Away…The A Word

So, there I was on an early Sunday morn, filleting some recently caught fish I’d never tried eating before.

To keep myself entertained while performing the least enjoyable part of my piscatorial experience, I put Fox News on (which I often do whether I agree with them or not).

Add to this the facts that I recently received a disturbing article from my cousin about some of Governor Palin’s alleged policies regarding rape victims in Alaska as well as postcards from the Democratic campaign folks warning about what lies ahead regarding abortion rights if the Republicans won in November, and…well…that’s what this article is about.

Fox was interviewing a lady who was a former Hillary supporter who now was a big McCain fan. The topic was the big drop McCain has seen lately in prospective women voters.

As the conversation progressed, a number of issues came up, but the economy, of course, was the number one culprit.

While I don’t doubt that that’s on everyone’s mind right now (including myself), it was apparent–at least to me–that there was indeed something else that would not be touched with even a ten foot pole

Look…I have very mixed feelings about abortion. I don’t like it, but I believe that there are certain circumstances which may make it a decision that should not be imposed from the outside. There’s no need to rehash repeated old arguments here.

But, just as Prohibition didn’t stop people from drinking alcohol, trying to legally impose morality on the abortion issue will go the same route. Only this time, girls will be forced back into real or virtual alleyways into the hands of butchers with hangers again. A twelve-year old raped by her brother, father, or whomever should have a better choice…etc., and so forth.

While this may not be an issue for older women who were/are especially Hillary supporters, this is certainly an issue for the younger ones…big time.

What McCain doesn’t need right now is yet another excuse for newly registered younger voters–college coeds, for example–not to vote for him. Most vote Democratic anyway. I did…wanted alternative energy options, more serious concern over environmental and conservation issues, and so forth. I still do.

So, my advice to McCain and Palin over these crucial remaining few weeks…

Spend a lot more time focusing on that Independent vote out there.

Many folks are fed up with both of the main political parties and recognize that there’s enough blame to go around on many of the main issues which implicates them all.

The Independent vote (mine included) may very likely make the difference in this election–which, by all calculations, should have been an easy Democratic victory.

McCain’s reputation as true “maverick,” able to work with the other side to get things done, is indeed well earned and gained him problems with fellow Republicans as well as praise from those who are now badmouthing him. Indeed, he is probably the best pick Republicans could have had this time around precisely because of this.

It must therefore be made very clear that a McCain-Palin Administration will not mean that their own (and those of some of their key supporters) theological or other ideology on the highly controversial issue of abortion will be rammed down everyone else’s throats. If this is not done, and it’s simply swept under the rug as was done on Fox’s Sunday interview, the Democrats may very well win on this issue alone. That’s how volatile and important it is.

While millions of young women–and men–may be willing to spread blame around for the economic crisis we now face, they won’t be so understanding on the A word.

Writing from Israel, after having very carefully following the entire election process, (I still do) I honestly believe that the U.S. citizenry, or at least a majority of it is falling for a talking head with no background to support the right to occupy the highest office in the land, at a time when experience is what’s needed most. I have yet to see good judgement from Obama as well. Remind me a bit of “EGEL HAZAHAV”, only this one is controlled by a strong leftist political machine, and while in the hands of the likes of Pelosi, Reed and Obama with zero checks and balances - I see clear and present danger for the future of the U.S. and worse - for the existential future of Israel - So don’t say you weren’t warned ahead of time. This is no time to march like a herd after the party. This is time to think freely and individually.

Here is a warning from writer Naomi Ragen and Keith Davies of what awaits us in an Obama presidency.
Below is a letter from the writer, Naomi Ragen, which nails the issues we face on Nov 4th. While the economic issues take center stage, the problem of Islamic theology which causes terror will be much more of an issue over the next four years than the economy. If we as a nation believe in freedom, liberty and the pursuit of happiness we must elect leaders who stand for those values. If we elect Obama, our freedoms and way of life will be destroyed, if not forever, then at least for some considerable time to come. Germany elected Hitler and the economy improved but a much bigger evil was created. I will choose economic difficulty any day over the opening of our borders, to infiltration of our law enforcement and military by an Islamic 5th column, to a fairness doctrine restr icting free speech of people who have conservative views, and the selling out of Israel on false peace with a Jewish community both here and in Israel lost for leadership and strength. We Jews have been persecuted for 3000 years, why does every Jewish generation seem to always hope that all of sudden the world has changed its views on Jews?

I came across this blog and would like to share some information with you regarding the current economic crisis and Obama.

In order to understand how we got into this current financial crisis you have to research the subject instead of listening to the candidates rhetoric. The problem started with the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) of 1977 which forced banks to make loans to low income borrowers. In 1995 the democrats added massive new provisions where banks would pay big penalties if they didn’t issue sub-prime mortgages. They needed to keep them affordable and offer loans with no money down, interest only, variable rates, no income verification, bad credit or no credit. Obama was instrumental in teaching ACORN how the process worked and to protest at banks and bank officers homes. He even took Citibank to court for this purpose. Before the CRA expansion home prices increased with inflation and after the new provisions home prices rose too fast. Once gas prices rose low income families stopped paying their mortgages and banks stopped lending causing the sub-prime market to collapse.

On Sept. 11, 2003 the Bush Administration recommended a significant regulatory overhaul of the housing finance industry to create a new agency within the treasury department for supervision over Fannie-Freddie. Unfortunately, the Democrats stopped the bill stating it might diminish their ability to finance loans for lower-income families. President Bush raised the issue of reform at least 17 times. The bill cleared the Senate Banking panel in 2005 but, stalled due to the opposition from the Democrats.

Also see the bill co-sponsored by Senator McCain www.govtrack.usbillS-190 . The democrats would be screaming by know but, they know they are responsible for the demise and were paid to look the other way. Christopher Dodd got 165,400, Barack Obama $126,349, John Kerry $111,000, Harry Reid $77,000, Nancy Pelosi $56,250, Barney Frank $42,350. In a recent interview with President Clinton, he acknowledged his party was mostly responsible for the current crisis.

During the Clinton administration the Republican followed The Contract With America which kept the spending under control. We’ve had numerous natural disasters and of course the war on terror. A little reminder, when Carter was president and raised taxes on businesses we had a 13% unemployment rate and when Herbert Hoover raised taxes he turned a recession into a depression.

You really should be afraid if Obama is elected to be our next President. The church he went to for 20 years teaches Black Liberation Theology which is an extension of Marxist theology. Reverend Wright equates Israelis to whites oppressing the dark skin Palestinens. He even put the writings of Hamas Militant in the church bulleton.and had a service conducted by Louis Faracan calling Obama their savior. Obama has a large Cuban flag of Che Guevara - communist mass murderer displayed on the wall in his Houston campaign office. Guevara was a Socialist Revolutionary portrayed as a Christ in liberation propaganda (socialized health care, welfare and gun control). Research it yourself! I don’t think this is the change Americans are looking for.
