Sarah And The Wolves
Governor Palin, there’s much about you that I find refreshing.
No, I don’t agree with you on every issue (so, you’re no different than any other candidate), but my heart tells me that your heart is basically in the right place–and I’m often accused of being too often cranially guided.
Having said this, please permit me to offer some advice to you in what will probably be a close election this November…and, right now, you guys are behind.
I am a former Democrat, now Independent, swaying heavily towards Senator McCain. There are many others out there like me–and we may very well determine the outcome of this election.
Let me begin by telling you a little story that you, as a fellow fisherperson, should be able to appreciate.
About ten years ago, my son Jonathan and myself were coming back from a fishing trip here in Florida.
As we were unloading our small boat, along came a commercial crabber with his crates loaded to their tops, crab legs hanging out of the slots. He then struck up a conversation with me.
A number of years earlier, I was part of a movement here to have red drum (“redfish”) declared a sports rather than a commercial species. Ever since New Orleans’ blackened redfish phenomenon, reds had been drastically plummeting in numbers–breeders disappearing before new generations could be produced.
The new law that was passed permitted the rebound of the redfish population, ensuring stocks into the future.
Now back to the crabber…
He proceeded to complain to me about how difficult it was to catch all the crabs he wanted to now–he with his many crates filled to the top and so forth.
The problem: Those damned environmentalists! Those reds were now eating too many of “his” crabs!!!!
I was proud of myself that day…I kept my cool.
I explained to him that long before man lived in Florida, reds and blue claw crabs lived in happy abundance…G_d working through nature creating predator-prey relationships to strike just the right balance.
I asked Mr. Crabber if he thought that maybe thousands of folks filling crates just like him might have something to do with the crab shortage.
Daggers came out of his eyes…
So Madam Governor, what does this have to do with you?
Many folks–Independents like myself certainly included–are sickened by the wholesale slaughter of wolves going on right now in your state–being shot from helicopters, etc. and so forth. Your opponents are making plenty of capital on this–sending out your record here in letters and postcards to millions of voters.
Yours is the one state in America where this noble predator–in balance with various prey populations far longer than man’s presence–is not endangered.
Like the crabber blaming redfish, Alaskan hunters blame everything but man’s own various adverse activities for their own declining prey populations. I remember a similar picture in National Geographic showing Japanese fishermen herding dolphins into the shallows so that they could beat them to death for allegedly eating too much fish…while Japan has huge nets killing anything and everything in their paths.
As a person who prides herself in bucking special interests and such, please understand that millions of Americans have become more ecologically tuned in–and not just from your opponents’ camp. Republican President Theodore Roosevelt, in many ways, can be seen as one of the fathers of the modern conservation movement. As many other hunters and fishermen have done, he too became tuned in to nature’s essential balance.
Governor, from one religious person to another, please rethink your support of such things as the wolf slaughter in your state. It goes against what I believe is the good heart and sensible mind that you indeed possess.

How Hitler Came to Power… And Why Sarah Palin is so Dangerous
As I watched Sarah Palin in the debate, it struck me that I might, once again, be watching history repeat itself. Where many saw a blank stare, I saw a calculating, devious and ultimately dangerous person. As someone with a Jewish heritage (and who is a child of a holocaust survivor), I did a little more research. The result was chilling…
Hitler came to power through parliamentary maneuvering. He was the leader of an ideologically pure, conservative group (the National Socialists or Nazi Party) who strove to appeal to farmers, war veterans and the middle class. They promised a better life while maintaining a hard-core, lock-step ideology. He ascended to the chancellor’s role (a high-level, but not top-level, political office) and then quickly consolidated power with his core followers.
Sarah Palin appears on a similar path. Her core supporters are ideologues - fundamentalists who use what they must to get to their heaven - including the Jews. She has had at least one too many Freudian slips about being in charge (the Palin-McCain ticket, the “Cheney” Vice-Presidential comment and several other comments that have been occasionally mocked).
This is a politician, supported by a core, motivated group of extremists - a group who has proven its ability to use whatever it can to reach its goals. This is a politician with a dangerous world view - myopic, uninterested, uneducated, and militaristic. This is a politician whose core support comes from people who have learned to hate - and have no problem with the mental gymnastics required to call that hate “love.” Folks, please read between the lines!
Hitler didn’t start at the top - he just positioned himself close enough to the top to consolidated power. Palin is looking to do the same thing - supported by her group of fundamentalist extremists. She puts forth an image that is sugary sweet, but hides a viper’s bite. Palin - who will probably become president if elected VP - has the potential and desire to be the next Hitler - don’t let that happen.
In the 30’s, I’m sure even plenty of Jews voted for Hitler. He was young, dynamic, attractive and inspirational. He also killed 6,000,000 of us and millions of others - all because of his ideology of purity and national salvation. Under her folksy facade, Sarah Palin understands that she will need the support of people who don’t scratch the surface - be they Christians, Jews, Muslims, African Americans, Asians or Hispanics, to put herself in the very same position, with respect to our government, that Hitler did with respect to his.
Folks, please look beneath the surface. For people from a similar tradition, don’t be blinded by her “support for Israel.” The evangelical movement has long supported Israel - they need our backs to climb on to reach their heaven. The real question is whether these people, so convinced that the End Times are upon us, will use the tools of true political power to speed our way to them. In that event, Israel - and the rest of the world, free or not, will burn. This is why she is so very dangerous.
We, as free people, need to stop this train BEFORE it leaves the station. Had Hitler not ascended to the Chancellory, he could have been stopped - well before millions had to perish at his hand. History teaches us lessons - but it is our job to hear them. Learn the lesson - and don’t let Sarah Palin ascend to the Vice Presidency.

Hey–I don’t agree with all positions of either party…but I do know as a fact that Obama has lined up as his key point men and women on the M.E. a nightmare for Israel…from Zbig Brezynski, General McPeak, and many others on down. Zbig is as bad as his twin, Mr. Peanut, aka ‘Apartheid Israel’ Carter–who also loves Obama.
This ain’t the same ole Liberalism of our grandparents folks…it has been hijacked bigtime–and Jews and/or the Jew of the Nations are often in the sites. Just ask Michael Moore, Al Sharpton, Jimmy Carter, Jessie Jackson, Rev. Wright, etc., etc., etc.

as a christian and a staunch defender of israel i must say this. i spent 4 yrs in israel and grew to love the people. i have an awesome respect for a small nation that has facedsome real giants and survived. i seveed in germany i have seen the death camps. i swaer as god is my witness that if the jewish people here in the states vote for barak that they will be pounding nails in their coffins of israel. my wife and i are going to immigrate to israel if barak is elected. we do this because we are dedicated to israel and its survival. as an ex ranger i will gladly volunteer for military service in israel. think! shalom
