What is Occupation?

Posted by Shlomo Fleischmann on May 21st, 2007

On June 5th it is 40 years since the Six Day War began. From this day on, one word highlights the situation when the Palestine problem is discussed - be it by Arabs - by politicians or by the media. This word is “occupation!” This relates to the terrible day, when Israel violated Palestinian land and occupied it.

I know that most knowledgeable people know the situation, doesn’t need another proof of what really happened and therefore rarely speak about it. Therefore we don’t hear too much about the truth. Josef Goebbels used to say: “every lie - if many time repeated- will be believed.”

So let us use the same tactic but for a good cause and tell the truth over and over again. The truth is: “Yes, Israel occupied territories from which it was attacked. As long as Israel is not assured that it will not be attacked again, Israel will keep these territories. Israel will build the protective wall and will keep the roadblocks until Israel is not attacked again. Israel will kill the attackers and when the attackers will hide behind innocents, they will take the responsibility, not Israel. The Arabs own 22 states in a total size, greater than the USA. We Jews have only one single state – smaller than New Jersey. Israel is our only land, our justice and we will fight for it.”

But perverted Islam is very successful with its lies, and not only accuses the Jews for all evil, but tries to dehumanizes the Jews not only because of their supposedly criminal activities, but also being inferior by nature. Jews are compared to apes and pigs. And they are absolutely convinced that this is truth. And why? Because they learn it in their schools.

Now back to reality and truth. Before the Six Day War, Palestinians as a people did not exist at all. The word Palestine did not describe a people but a land, same as the country of “Jordan” is not populated by a Jordanian people. They are just Arabs. The people of the occupied territories in dispute were not occupied by Israel, but - the Westbank by Jordan, and Gaza by Egypt. During the 19 years of this occupation there was no protest to end this occupation and no demand for a Palestinian state. They lived peacefully as Arabs amongst Arabs. And Israel lived peacefully in its borders. Nevertheless, the Arabs decided to destroy Israel.

I remember these times well. I remember when Arab armies closed in on Israel borders and declared openly to destroy Israel. Israel was in mortal danger, fought for its life and succeeded to withstand the attacks and consequentially occupied the aggressor’s bases and land. Not too many may know that Israel offered the land back for the price of peace. The Arabs rejected any peace but declared Israel as the aggressor and “occupier.” And this lie they repeat on and on and tragically, most believe it.

And we have to repeat the truth on and on, unless the people will know it. “yes, we will stand on our right, will fight for our freedom and will do everything to prevent the victory of evil. If we will not do it – the enemy will be all over us and we may lose freedom, independence and even our lifes.

And now I ask to repeat the same sentence of truth, which is also valid not only for Israel, but as well, for our USA and the whole world which seeks freedom: “Yes, we will stand on our right, will fight for our freedom and we will do everything to prevent the victory of evil. If we will not do it – the enemy be all over us and we may lose freedom, independence and even our lifes.” And now let’s repeat the truth over and over and so help us God.
